Description

This excellent cheese dish, which is called fondue, first appeared in Switzerland more than seven centuries ago. It is believed that Swiss shepherds invented it, who took bread, cheese and wine as food on pastures. The remaining pieces of dried cheese, along with a small amount of white wine, they were melted in a special clay pot. In this hot cheese mass, shepherds dipped pieces of bread and consumed them with wine, warming themselves on cold days.
